Non-monogamy education

We help you navigate different relationship structures.

Non-monogamy education

We live in a society where monogamy is the norm, so most of our understanding of relationships relate to monogamy.

Increasingly, more people are exploring different forms of non-monogamy - polyamory, relationship anarchy, friends with benefits, swinging, open relationships, monogamish, polyfidelity, casual relationships and all other forms.

At Progressive Therapeutic Collective, we believe that being educated and informed can help prevent a lot of relationship challenges in the future.

In our 90 minute individualised education session, you and your partner/s are welcome to start exploring relationship issues such as - different structures, important methods of communication, setting boundaries and how to navigate conflict.

Important: this does not constitute therapy. These sessions are educational only.

  • Non-monogamy encompasses a wide range of relationship structures, such as polyamory, open relationships, swinging, and relationship anarchy. Education helps us understand these different structures, their unique characteristics, and the potential implications for their own relationships.

  • All relationships, whether monogamous or non-monogamous, require good communication.

We encourage communication that is considered, mindful and informed.

Safety is a key consideration when we talk about communication.

  • Gaining a clear understanding of what constitutes consent and boundaries is a critical starting point for any relationship.

What are the things we need to consider when navigating consent and boundaries.

How do we ensure everyone feels safe?

  • All relationships can bring up a range of feelings and emotions.

We often jealousy, insecurity and fear particularly hard to manage.

If we have a discussion at the start of exploration, it can help us to navigate these emotions more clearly and calmly.

Please note: all emotions are valid and important. This is not about denying these emotions; rather its about managing them in a healthy way.

  • Non-monogamous relationships can face social stigmas and misconceptions. Education can help individuals understand these stigmas, develop strategies for addressing them, and foster a supportive community of like-minded individuals.

  • Non-monogamous relationships may involve multiple sexual partners, making sexual health and safety education even more critical.

Understanding the importance of regular testing, safer sex practices, and maintaining open communication about sexual health is essential for protecting all parties involved.
